The Old Man and the Sea

Hemingway, Ernest

  • Publisher: Jonathan Cape
  • Published: 1952
  • Condition: very good
First English edition, first impression (Jonathan Cape, 1952). Attractive jacket design by Hans Tisdall. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize in 1953 and influential in the author being awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature the following year. Publisher's original blue cloth with dark red lettering to spine and motif to upper board. Near fine with a hint of very faint soiling to front and rear endpapers & paste-downs; spine ever so slightly faded; contents clean and free from previous owner names and inscriptions. A few closed tears to dust jacket edges with some shallow chipping and moderate wear; rubbing to hinges and extremities in places and fading to spine panel and, only marginally, to lower panel, but very good otherwise. A very good copy of an edition often found in worn condition.
